In 2021, the Ruqyah service was born from a sincere desire to help individuals facing spiritual hardship, guided by the Qur’an and the authentic teachings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. What began quietly as personal visits and heartfelt recitations for friends, families, and close contacts soon revealed a growing need in the community — a need for trusted, faith-based healing rooted in sincerity and Islamic principles. Though there was no formal system yet, the intention was pure: to offer support to those silently suffering from sihr (black magic), evil eye, jinn-related disturbances, and emotional distress that conventional means could not resolve. Each session in those early days strengthened not only the people seeking help but also the purpose behind the service — laying the spiritual foundation for what would later become a structured and recognized offering through the Canadian Islamic Information Centre.
One year after beginning this journey, word of the Ruqyah sessions began to quietly spread within the community. Many reached out not through advertising, but through trust — shared stories of healing, emotional relief, and spiritual clarity. With each visit, the need became more evident: individuals and families were silently suffering from sihr, evil eye, and unexplainable hardship. This year marked the transition from a personal effort to a growing service built on consistency, compassion, and complete reliance on Allah. Every case deepened the commitment to offer Ruqyah with sincerity, care, and dignity.
The foundation of effective Ruqyah lies not only in the ability to recite but in approaching the service with deep sincerity, patience, and spiritual responsibility. Core skills include strong memorization and recitation of the Qur’an, understanding signs of spiritual affliction, and the ability to remain emotionally composed and focused during sessions. Equally important are listening to the person in distress, discerning subtle signs of sihr, jinn, or evil eye, and offering practical aftercare rooted in Islamic guidance. True effectiveness in Ruqyah comes not from power, but from submission — recognizing that all healing is by Allah’s will.
In 2023, something truly special began to take shape — the Ruqyah service was officially brought under the umbrella of the Canadian Islamic Information Centre. This marked a turning point: what started as a quiet effort now had structure, presence, and direction. A proper intake process was introduced, sessions were scheduled with care, and guidance was given with consistency. It was no longer just about responding to distress — it became a full experience of spiritual assessment, treatment, and sincere aftercare. This year brought clarity to the mission: to offer Ruqyah not just as a service, but as a trust, a responsibility, and a source of healing rooted in prophetic tradition.
By the third year, the Ruqyah service had grown not only in reach, but in depth. Families began coming together, not just as individuals, but as entire households seeking healing. It became clear that spiritual harm often affects more than one person — it touches homes, relationships, and atmospheres. With this realization, the approach evolved to include full family sessions and in-home visits for those who needed more comfort and privacy.
This year also marked the beginning of treating Ruqyah as a full spiritual journey, not just a single session. Clearer aftercare, follow-up support, and reading on water became part of the standard process. The goal remained simple: to offer people hope, protection, and healing through the Book of Allah — while delivering every session with care, professionalism, and presence.
By 2025, the Ruqyah service stands at a deeply humbling point — no longer in its raw beginnings, yet far from reaching its highest potential. After three years of serving individuals and families, witnessing tears, breakthroughs, and silent pain, it became clear that this work lives somewhere between deep suffering and divine mercy. It is a path that demands constant sincerity, renewal of intention, and patience with every soul that walks through the door. This year is not a finish line, but a reminder: healing is a process, and we are still growing — guided by the Qur’an, anchored by compassion, and striving to serve those caught between darkness and light.
Here are some of the most common questions we receive about our Ruqyah services, along with clear and thoughtful answers.
We clarify these points for the sake of transparency, ensuring that you have a full understanding of the process, purpose, and values behind the services we provide.
Our aim is to serve the community with integrity, respect, and in accordance with Islamic principles.
Ruqyah is a spiritual healing method based on the recitation of specific verses from the Qur’an and prophetic supplications (duʿāʾ) to seek relief from ailments such as the evil eye, envy, magic, and spiritual disturbances. During a session, verses are recited aloud while the individual listens and reflects. The process may also include natural remedies like Qur’anic water or oil. Each session includes a spiritual assessment and clear, respectful guidance for continued healing at home.
All sessions are conducted by individuals with proper understanding of Islamic healing methods and commitment to following the Sunnah. The practice is carried out in accordance with Shariah, with no use of superstition, innovation, or cultural deviations. When appropriate, and especially during sessions involving women, a female presence may be included to ensure transparency and adherence to Islamic etiquette.
Ruqyah is a spiritual means of healing that offers comfort and relief from unseen afflictions, but it is not a replacement for medical or psychological treatment. Those experiencing physical or mental health issues are strongly encouraged to seek help from qualified healthcare professionals. Ruqyah can be practiced alongside conventional care as part of a holistic approach to well-being that connects body, mind, and soul.
The suggested contribution for a Ruqyah session is $100 at our location or $150 for a mobile visit. These fees are not for personal income, but are collected to support the Canadian Islamic Information Centre. This helps sustain our non-profit operations and allows us to continue offering educational, spiritual, and community services to others in need. Your support directly contributes to the Centre’s ability to serve the wider community.
To request a Ruqyah session, simply reach out to us through our contact form, email, or phone. We recommend performing ablution (wuḍū’) beforehand, wearing clean and modest clothing, and preparing with a sincere intention. The environment should be calm and focused, free from unnecessary noise or distractions. After the session, personalized guidance is provided to help you continue your spiritual healing journey in your own space.
Yes, confidentiality and trust are at the heart of what we do. All matters discussed or observed during the Ruqyah session are handled with the utmost privacy and respect. We understand that many individuals and families seek support during sensitive or distressing times, and our goal is to create a safe, welcoming, and judgment-free environment. The process is rooted in Islamic tradition, focused on genuine healing, and always delivered with compassion, discretion, and professionalism.
For reasons of religious integrity, community trust, and to uphold Islamic guidelines, we do not conduct Ruqyah sessions for women alone. It is required that a maḥram (male guardian) or another mature and trusted female accompanies her during the session. This policy is in place to maintain transparency, respect, and the highest ethical standards in spiritual care. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us preserve the dignity and authenticity of this service.
Ruqyah is beneficial for anyone experiencing unexplained physical, emotional, or spiritual distress — such as persistent sadness, fear, tension, nightmares, sudden changes in behavior, or difficulties with focus and worship. It is also a recommended spiritual remedy for those who suspect envy, the evil eye, or magic, as well as anyone simply seeking to strengthen their connection with the Qur’an and seek protection through divine remembrance. You don’t need to wait for severe symptoms to benefit — Ruqyah can be a proactive step toward spiritual clarity and healing.
